On September 21-22, the PROSPER BSR project organized a meeting in Vilnius for its partners and a training on the employment and integration of Ukrainian refugees and other third-country nationals, a topic of particular interest in Europe at the moment. Ieva Jagminienė, the director of the private kindergarten chain Abadelė in Vilnius, tells that she employed as many as nine foreigners in her kindergarten last year. Few of them have already returned back to their homeland, and other Ukrainians were hired to replace them. All of them were refugees who have arrived in Lithuania since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Jagminienė emphasizes that employing Ukrainians helped both the newcomers and the company.

Socially responsible solutions often make people step out of their comfort zone and change old habits. According to Diana Milerienė, Business Development Manager at INVS Logistics, it is beneficial for Lithuanians and not only for foreigners who have come to Lithuania. According to the Red Cross, as of today almost 77,000 Ukrainians have come to Lithuania since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. After receiving temporary shelter, their main issue has been how to make a living. Socially responsible businesses in Lithuania have been quick to create jobs for the refugees. INVS Logistics is one such business.

As of 2020, Vilnius CCIC and partners (the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Estonia, Armenia, and Georgia) have been implementing the Eurochambres-initiated project EU4Business: Connecting Companies. The consortium manages the creative industries sector. Starting from the beginning of 2023, we have initiated the implementation of a new project activity — the Mobility Programme. It is a business exchange programme that allows small and medium-sized enterprises and business support organisations from the Eastern Partnership countries, such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine, to take part in exchanges in their host EU countries. The Programme aims to share good practices, knowledge, and business contacts and initiate new projects.
